Independent A-Levels

A clear pathway to university and beyond.

A-Levels remain a key route into higher education and competitive apprenticeships. Private entry gives you flexibility, but the specification and practical requirements need careful planning.

We help you choose the right board, confirm whether coursework or practical endorsement is required, and work to the correct entry deadlines. If you are returning after a gap year or improving a grade, we can review your previous entry history with you.

For science subjects, the practical endorsement is separate from the written grade. Our practical endorsement pathway supports candidates who need to complete the required skills assessments.

  • First-time A-Level entries for independent candidates.
  • Resits and grade improvement in available subjects.
  • Practical endorsement support for science candidates.
  • Access arrangement guidance where evidence exists.

Are you resitting? Previous board, code and cash-in status Share your candidate history with us
Do you need access arrangements? Evidence and board deadlines Submit documents as early as possible

A-Level questions

Can I take A-Levels privately without a school?

Yes. Private candidates can enter through an exam centre, provided the subject and specification are available to external candidates.

Do I need practical endorsement for science?

Many science A-Levels require it for the full qualification. Some university offers also expect it, so check both the specification and your offer.

Can I resit one module?

Most A-Levels are linear, so resits usually mean retaking the full qualification in a later series.
